During this NCMS presentation, Brian Kaveney will discuss FSO duties, the complex legal puzzle and uncertainty FSOs face if they do not properly report in a timely manner, the immunity they are granted from the federal government, and the obligation they have to get the reporting right for their sake and the sake of the company or university. We will also do a deeper dive into the "what, why, and how" of reporting and the steps FSOs can take to mitigate risks and how to keep your SMO in the loop.

Understanding the distinct requirements of 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM Open Storage Areas and ICD 705 accredited facilities are essential for Industrial Security Professionals responsible for safeguarding National Security Programs while enabling mission success.
This presentation will provide an overview of both secure facility types, highlighting their purpose, design requirements, accreditation processes, and operational considerations. Attendees will gain practical insight into the similarities, differences, and best practices for planning, constructing, accrediting, and managing secure environments in support of the Industrial Security Community. This presentation will be provided by Marc Sheie and Beau Hatch, Physical Security SMEs at ARL:UT.
